The Bureau of Curious Cases

[Standalone mystery cases + plot-driven] Within the Nine Provinces live strange folk from a hundred clans. Does having an unusual appearance mean you must be treated as inferior? Shen Zhiyi, Director of the Secret Cases Bureau, refuses to believe it. If the world is unjust, then she will investigate until it is turned upside down. Ambushed while investigating a murder, she opens her eyes to find herself covered in wounds and framed for poisoning a foreign envoy. While trying to clear her name, she reunites with an old friend, Xie Nanfeng, the newly appointed magistrate of Yongning County. The usually aloof man faces down everyone’s doubts and reaches out to her. With her extraordinary tracking skills and naturally keen sense of smell, Shen Zhiyi joins forces with Xie Nanfeng to solve one bizarre case after another. A man in a mansion has his heart ripped out; a silkworm maiden’s bloody letter stops an official’s carriage; someone else lurks beneath an envoy’s skin; a merfolk hostage is ambushed; a bridal case shrouded in mystery... Yet the closer she gets to the ultimate truth, the more frequently her amnesia strikes. In those periods, she remembers nothing, but senses that a shadow has taken possession of her body. The answer she least wants to remember is hidden in the maelstrom of the imperial court. Two-Faced Detective x Tsundere Magistrate | Women’s Kingdom | Social Realism | Updated Daily
