Golden Eyes for Jia

The story of a young man in midsummer was known throughout Shen City.

Cheng Jia, the Cheng family's legitimate daughter, was cool-headed, sharp-tongued, and rationally restrained. A heaven-blessed prodigy who never bowed her head to anyone.

Except for Li Ye. With his one-of-a-kind golden eyes, he had spent years being gentle and clingy, relentlessly pursuing her and giving her all the affection he so openly favored her with.

In everyone's eyes, he was a sweet, obedient puppy of a boy,

but he was an illegitimate son with the ruthless instincts of royalty and a life steeped in bloody power struggles.

Before summer had ended, storms broke out.

A bloody power struggle erupted in L Country. Forced to flee overnight, he vanished without a word, severing every tie to his youth.

Four years without a trace.

Four years later, after bloodshed in a foreign land, the dust finally settled.

Li Ye ascended the throne, holding the power of life and death in L Country. He returned in triumph, having crossed thousands of miles of mountains and rivers.

But the world had changed beyond recognition.

The girl he had left behind had shed her youthful softness. Now she commanded the Cheng family's power, cool and calculating, a force unto herself.

At a reunion banquet, two rulers faced off.

He clung to her obsessively, drawing closer step by step, asking only for the chance to make up for four years of neglect.

She remained cool and distant, treating him like any other official and feigning indifference: "King Li, we're not close."

Their childhood romance had ended in a careless parting.

Now love and hatred pulled them into an agonizing dance.

He conquered the realm, quelled power struggles, and put the past behind him, yet he had never once wronged her.

She guarded her family, commanded the tides of power, and endured her loneliness, yet refused to forgive him so easily.

This was not only a second chance at love, but two rulers standing side by side.

You command the lands beyond the borders. I will guard the mountains and rivers of home.

Through years and miles, I will always return to you.
