Sky Light

This is a realistic novel set in the contemporary workplace. It tells the story of Cen Xiaomo, a young external inspector in a company called "Lingu Company", who fell into a series of conspiracies and confrontations because he refused to be complicit. The story begins in the summer of 2018, when Cen Xiaomo entered Lingu Company as an external inspector through connections. He originally wanted to have a stable job and prepare for graduate school exams, but he soon found himself involved in a web of power and revenge woven by his colleague Zhan Renxuan, retired man Zhang Bin and their family. Due to his personal competitive mentality, Zhan Renxuan repeatedly designed to frame Cen Xiaomo, and even brought Peng Shang, Fang Majian and others to the company to cause trouble. And Zhang Bin, the old landlord who claims to "take the world as his own responsibility," holds a hoe and walks between the canteen, office, and construction site, using violence and intimidation to suppress anyone who "doesn't like him." The novel unfolds in the form of an eighteen-act play, and each act is an escalation of conflict. From verbal exchanges in the cafeteria to late-night knife fights; from the ethical tragedy of a child being secretly exchanged to the bloody scene of a hoe slashing at a baby - Cen Xiaomo has always been struggling between "adhering to principles" and "preserving himself." He reported the driver's violation, rejected the canteen manager's "good intentions", and argued hard in front of the leadership. However, he was isolated, slandered, and forced to resign. The author outlines a larger social picture through characters such as Zhang Bin, Li Chongze, Wang Rushi, Tang Muyu: When "morality" can be defined at will, when "justice" is reduced to a tool of power, how should ordinary people deal with themselves? Every resistance of Cen Xiaomo was like lighting a match in the darkness, weak but stubborn.
