Sold by Her Father into a General's Household, the Five-Year-Old Princess Becomes Emperor

[Adorable kid + biological father chasing his wife to the crematorium + System + mischievous and clever] Meng Shuang is five years old, and her family is so poor they can barely scrape by. One day, a voice appears in her mind, telling her she must spend money to activate the System and obtain a golden finger. A bright idea strikes her: she packs up her handsome, naive biological father and sells him as a live-in son-in-law, using the money to activate the System. With a casual shove, she somehow sends him to the rear residence of the Great General Who Protects the Nation. She also accidentally binds herself to an “Emperor System,” and before she knows it, Meng Shuang is sitting on the dragon throne. Even more absurdly, her father turns out to be the late emperor’s only son, who was lost to the outside world, making her claim to the throne entirely legitimate. The System promises her mountains of gold and silver. Meng Shuang thinks she’ll get to live a life of extravagant spending, but the System is even better at blowing money than she is. She says to blow up a mountain. The ministers beg her to stop, but the blast uncovers an entire iron mine. She says to dig a river, and the Minister of Works nearly dies on the job, but they end up excavating a golden trade route linking north and south. Now the court officials look at her with shining eyes, as if even one stomp of her foot could uncover some priceless treasure. But when she complains that the muddy road is rough underfoot and needs paving, even she feels nervous. She tugs at the System and asks, “Are you sure something good will turn up?” The System gives the same answer as always: “Just trust me. You can’t go wrong.” As for her biological father, who was sold off as a live-in son-in-law? Rumor has it that after discovering the Great General is a woman in disguise, he’s been “threatened day and night” by the Great General and has no time to look after her. And her? Meng Shuang bites into a candied hawthorn skewer, pats her dragon robe, and puts on a lofty air. She’s just an ordinary little lucky koi, that’s all.
