The Gods May Forbid It, But I’ll Make Women Ascend to Heaven

The Nine Provinces have an ironclad rule: women may not enter the inner peaks, inherit family legacies, or aspire to the Mandate of Heaven. They called her a witch and put her on trial beneath ninety-nine bolts of heavenly lightning. They urged her to bow her head, promising her the highest place at the Emperor’s side. But Xie Wuchen drew her sword and climbed the Heavenly Gate: “What I want has never been a place at anyone’s side.” If the highest seat can accommodate only one lucky woman, then her victory is merely an exception created by the old system. She does not want to be the one exception. She wants women everywhere to never again have to ask anyone to make an exception for them.
