Saving Two Worlds: An Immortal from the Late Ming and a Modern Agent

Chongzhen: Please, Immortal, grant me a way to save my country!

Gu Xingzhou: We're not related, and I have no time to play make-believe with you. If you cooperate, you can keep being emperor. If not, we'll find someone else.

Chongzhen: Heavens! I've only been emperor for two years, and now I have to become the ruler who loses his country? What a raw deal!

Chen Xiaoman: Hey, Xiao Zhu, Gu just has a thin skin. Marry your imperial sister-in-law to him, and then you'll be family! He won't be able to refuse to help you!

Chongzhen: My brother treated me with great kindness. How could I force my sister-in-law to remarry?

Zhang Yan: I and Immortal Gu are in love with each other. I ask Your Majesty to give us your blessing.

Ministers: Zhang marrying Immortal Gu will greatly benefit the empire (and our own fortunes). We support the proposal!

The country: You two have some nerve! You secretly went to the Ming dynasty and married an empress, bombed Huang Taiji with a drone, and told us the portal was "bound by the System"? So the two of you are the only saviors in the whole world?

Guided by the ancient human race, Gu Xingzhou and Chen Xiaoman gained the ability to travel both ways to the late Ming world, and awakened superpowers. But they weren't going there to keep the Ming dynasty alive. Both worlds were on the verge of collapse, nuclear tests would have to take the blame, and the ancient human race from ten thousand years ago wouldn't escape responsibility either.

In the modern world, they were law-abiding citizens who occasionally moonlighted as ghosts, "borrowing" a little equipment from the homes of the wealthy.

In the late Ming world, they were "true immortals" who went wherever they pleased in helicopters, with an army of robots at their backs. They crushed rebels, built bases, and made promises to Chongzhen. Their main job was saving the world; their side job was turning the broken ship of the Ming dynasty into an aircraft carrier.
