Love on Moonlit Mountain

While sent down to the countryside in Wentang, at the foot of Mingyue Mountain, educated youth Su Yan met and grew close to Shen Zhihe, a nurse at the local clinic. Mountain breezes carried the warmth of the hot springs, warming the hearts of these two young people. In 1977, news came that the college entrance examinations would resume. Su Yan got his wish and was admitted to Shanghai Medical College, then boarded a train bound for a distant future. Su Yan's parents fiercely opposed his romance with a woman from the countryside. Pregnant, Shen Zhihe didn't dare tell him the news and swallowed all her bitterness alone.

After graduating, Su Yan stayed in Shanghai. He made time to return to Wentang and look for her, but by chance Shen Zhihe was away for further training. They passed each other on a mountain road without even saying goodbye. Unable to withstand his family's repeated urging, he eventually married someone else.

Twenty years flashed by. Su Yan had become the director of a major Shanghai hospital. While sorting through old files, he suddenly noticed that the place of origin listed for Su Ning, the young doctor he valued most, read, "Wentang Town, Yichun, Jiangxi." Memories buried for twenty years surged back in an instant. With trembling fingers, he asked Su Ning, "Your mother... was her name Shen Zhihe?"

The love that had been cruelly torn apart by the times at Mingyue Mountain was finally about to reveal the whole truth, slowly unfolding in the folds of time.
