On the Run from Famine, the Socially Anxious Cook Makes Her Fortune

Wen Hening, a socially anxious shut-in, transmigrates to the Great Qi dynasty during a famine and becomes a pitiful little orphan whose father is dead and whose mother has remarried, leaving her all alone. From the start, her vicious grandmother is about to sell her off for a pittance to trade for food! With no way out, she burns their wretched home to the ground and flees through the famine with her little brother in the dead of night. She thinks she’s destined to starve in the wilderness, but then she binds to a Food Business System that unlocks an endless supply of ingredients during the famine! But the System forces her to run a business, and if she doesn’t meet her daily KPI, it cuts off her food supply the next day. The socially anxious little boss is driven to sell food just to survive. Fortunately, she picks up a quiet, mysterious down-and-out big shot along the way. He comes with underlings who take care of everything, from calling out to customers and collecting money to pushing the cart and providing security. Wen Hening becomes a ruthless little boss who works her employees to the bone: she feeds them, but never pays them! She thinks she’s only taken on a free worker who doesn’t need a salary. Little does she know he’s a great general burdened by a blood feud. The general thinks he’s found a useful tool for revenge, but never expects to end up giving her his heart and soul. Wen Hening asks, “I heard you planned to use me for revenge at first?” The man drops to his knees at once. “My lady, I was wrong!” While others chew tree bark and swallow dirt to stave off hunger, she drives an upgraded food cart, filling the road with delicious aromas. Along the way, she wins a legion of devoted foodies and even ushers in a golden age for the world.
