Wan Guo Jin Liang Jin: the Sorrow of Ryukyu

This is an epic about national subjugation, perseverance and the rebirth of memory. For the first time, it shows the pain of the Ryukyu Kingdom's subjugation, the sorrow of national martyrdom, the sorrow of cultural genocide, and the dilemma of losing its identity. On the East China Sea, there once was a kingdom called Ryukyu. It used Zhouji as the bridge of all nations and existed independently between the Ming Dynasty and Japan for five hundred years. Lin Shigong, a descendant of the thirty-sixth Fujianese surname, grew up reading Confucius, Mencius and the history of the Ryukyu Kingdom in the Chinese Academy of Shuri Castle. He met Xiang Qingyao, the princess of the Ryukyu royal family, under the Ten Thousand Kingdoms Jinliang Bell. But what he saw with his own eyes was the whole process of a kingdom with turbulent undercurrents in the afterglow of its prosperous age being eaten away, stolen, and annexed inch by inch by Japanese officials, until its name was completely wiped off. In 1871, the "Peony Society Incident" became the trigger, and Japan took the opportunity to meddle in Ryukyu sovereignty. In 1872, Ryukyu was forcibly renamed "Ryukyu Domain", and in 1875, the 500-year-old vassal relationship between China and Ryukyu was severed. In 1879, Japan's "Ryukyu Dispatch Officer" Matsuda Michio led military police to break into the Shuri Palace and forcibly took away the edition. King Shangtai was kidnapped and placed under house arrest in Tokyo, and Ryukyu was officially subjugated. Lin Shigong, Xiang Dehong, and Cai Dading formed a secret petition group, sneaked into Fuzhou, and went north to Beijing to ask for help. He knelt in front of the Prime Minister's Office for three years. In the late Qing Dynasty, there were constraints both inside and outside the court, and the Sino-Japanese negotiations on changing the island separation treaty reached a deadlock. In the winter of 1880, Lin Shigong wrote a desperate poem, drew his sword in front of the Prime Minister's Office, and committed suicide in the wind and snow of Beijing. He left half of the Wan Guo Jin Liang Bell fragment to Xiang Qingyao who was far away in his hometown. The Wan Guo Jin Liang in the East China Sea has never been a legend of the past. The erased names will eventually resound in the sea breeze.
