Revelry in the Capital at Night

[Female lead, no male lead; a willful, free-spirited young lady vs. a cool-headed, restrained old-fashioned man] Second Young Lady Shen has a rather poor reputation in their social circle. She throws her weight around thanks to her good family background, keeps a college boy as a lover, and even dares to bring him openly to a gathering with their circle. As luck would have it, she sits at one end of a long table, while her fiancé sits at the other: Young Master Ruan, the most proper and old-fashioned man in their circle... With their wedding date approaching, the man corners her on a small balcony. A fine drizzle drifts in, and he turns to shield her from the mist, his voice as calm as ever. “Second Miss Shen, you have a week to cut ties with all those men on the side.” Shen Nanqiao curls her lips and fires back. “Ruan Sinian, do you know why I chose you out of the three brothers back then?” “Because you were the least trouble.” Later, Ruan Sinian throws those exact words back at her. Just when she thinks Ruan Sinian will never lose control, he pulls her into his arms, his eyes bloodshot. “Shen Nanqiao, say that again. Who was the least trouble?” Looking into his beautiful eyes, she finds herself speechless for the first time.
