The Vicious Stepmother of the Seventies Has Twins After Joining the Army

After dying from overwork, Su Qingyu transmigrated into the 1970s as a military family member. Her husband was Lu Zhengting, a leader who was raising a child alone after being widowed. His late wife had died a hero, and she was the darling of the whole residential compound. Everyone was waiting to see how this country bumpkin would exhaust herself trying to please her husband, stepson, in-laws, and everyone else in the compound. Su Qingyu’s response: “Sorry, but now that I’m free, I just want to lie down and do nothing.” A wife from the compound came to warn her to pay more attention to her stepson and not give people anything to gossip about. She immediately handed the child over. “You’re right, Sister-in-law. You take care of him. You know better than I do.” Her mother-in-law thought she was clumsy and useless at chores. That suited her just fine. She lay flat, doing nothing but eating and sleeping, and accidentally gained three pounds. Everyone in the compound ostracized her. They stopped visiting, and they left her out of their performances, too. Su Qingyu: “There’s such a wonderful arrangement?” She stayed home every day, sleeping in for her beauty rest. Her skin became fair and soft, and she grew plump all over. Everyone in the compound could only envy her. Lu Zhengting was transferred to the border region, where conditions were harsh. Everyone in the compound thought her good days were finally over. In front of the whole compound, Su Qingyu declared, “Zhengting is going to defend our country, and I’ll stay here to look after our little family. From now on, I’ll eat at the mess hall, send my laundry to the laundry service, and put the child in kindergarten. Don’t worry, Zhengting. I’ll take good care of myself.” Everyone’s faces twitched. After a long silence, Lu Zhengting said, “...Are you hoping I’ll leave?” Su Qingyu: “How could you think that about me? Am I that kind of person?” Everyone: “...You are!”
