We End at Our First Anniversary

Wang Xiaoran is a sports major who is shy and socially anxious around strangers, but carefree and outgoing with people he knows. He spends August persevering, step by step, to get closer to Wu Qingyan, who keeps to herself, and finally wins the heart of the person he loves.

The sweetness of being together day and night could not withstand the distance and dull routine that followed his failure to get into college. They weathered one breakup and reunion after another and made it through their first anniversary, but once the novelty wore off, they stopped speaking and broke up, retreating gracefully to being ordinary friends.

The love was still there, but their patience was gone. They met when they were young, and all that remained was regret.
