Empty Road Home

I recently read about Wang Wei and found that he was too quiet in history books. His wife passed away very young and did not remarry for thirty years. He had his youthful pride, experienced the ups and downs of his official career and turbulent times, and finally spent the rest of his life in Wangchuan, mountains and rivers, and Buddhism. Between these experiences, history books do not tell us: how he loved, how he lost, and how he continued to live for the rest of his long life. The empty mountain in "Deer and Chai" - there are no people in sight, but there are still people talking; it seems silent, but it is never really empty. What I want to write about is not a "poetry Buddha" enshrined in poetry books, but a romantic, affectionate, talented person who is also weak, hesitant and makes mistakes. I wanted to go into those unrecorded years within the boundaries of respecting historical facts, write about his love with his wife, his friendship with Pei Di, and how a man went through the prosperous Tang Dynasty, loss and troubled times, and gradually became the Wang Wei we later met. So, starting from today, I officially started writing this novel. I wish I could not only write about his landscapes, but also the people in them who have never really disappeared.
