Delivering a soul to rest earned him the [Listening to Thoughts] entry, letting him hear strange sounds in the world and learn secrets of the netherworld. And so, Ma Qingyang studied and meditated by day, and helped departed souls pass on by night, slowly building up his strength as he worked toward returning to the sect.
