Terror Descends, and My Red Eyes Can See Ghosts

On his first day in a parallel world, Jiang Han woke up from the cold.

He was inside a morgue drawer.

Something outside was dragging itself along, scraping and rasping as it came from the end of the corridor. It stopped in front of him, stood there for a while, then left.

The System said, “Welcome to an instance in an infinite-flow game. Clear it alive, and you can go home.”

But the System didn’t tell him that the ghosts in this world were exactly like the ones described in the ancient books passed down in his hometown. Beneath a locust tree lay a woman whose lifeline had been pinned down. The cinnabar writing on the yellow talisman was in Warring States script. The bowl was filled with hair.

When he opened his eyes, his right eye flashed red.

From then on, while others relied on sheer luck to survive, he relied on his eyes. Once he saw through them, ghosts were just monsters.

Forty instances, from folk paper effigy shops to ancient ruins from the Investiture of the Gods era. A ghost bride, a corpse-raising ground, resentful spirits from the massacre at Changping, and remnants of the Battle of Zhuolu. Feng Shui that severed dragon veins, the Five Elements that subdued evil spirits, and creatures from the Classic of Mountains and Seas, all alive and well.

As he looked through them one by one, he discovered something: every instance was hiding something. They were concealing the shattered Heavenly Dao from two thousand years ago.

Jiang Han clenched the final jade fragment in his hand and smiled.

“Don’t rush. I’ll dig up everything you’ve hidden.”

Chinese-style horror, infinite flow, red eyes that see through illusions, no romance.

While everyone else was running for their lives, Jiang Han was studying the rules. Once he was done, it was his turn to act.
