The Lucky Farm Wife Has Money to Spare

They say a jinx brings ruin to the household, but who would have guessed that Su Hemiao, the village’s most notorious jinx, would bring good luck to her husband’s family the moment she married in? The house collapsed, but she casually dug up silver buried underground and built a grand new one! Her injured, sick husband was dying because they had no money for treatment, but Su Hemiao found a magic fungus growing on an old locust tree that no one in the village paid attention to, and saved his life! Her husband’s family was hounded for debt, when a giant river clam by the roadside chased after her and clamped onto her trouser leg. When she opened it, there was a huge pearl inside… Talk about amazing! Her enemies bullied her and made her draw lots to decide whether she’d live or die, but every slip marked “death” was stuck to the bottom of the jar… What a miracle! Her in-laws were a household full of the old, the young, the sick, and the disabled. Ever since she married into the family, a mysterious power seemed to surround them, and their lives got better and better, with one joyful occasion after another. Before she knew it, she’d become the richest woman around… Doesn’t that just make you jealous? Her husband turns out to be a big shot with a hidden identity? Su Hemiao worries he’ll look down on her, but he pounces on her instead. “My dear, even the imperial treasury has to borrow silver from you, and my father has to watch his step around you. How could I look down on you? Please, don’t look down on me!” Su Hemiao says, “They only borrowed the money because you asked them to. As for whether I look down on you, that depends on how you behave… Hey, what are you doing?” Her husband grins slyly. “What do you think? We need to have a baby to secure my position!”
