Synopsis

"North Wind Crossing to the South" is a historical novel set against the backdrop of the Mongolian-Jin War in the 13th century. It tells the story of Zhang Huan, a northern Han man under the rule of the Jin Kingdom, who struggled to survive in troubled times. In 1211 AD, the Mongolian cavalry went south and defeated the main force of the Jin Kingdom at Yehuling. Thirteen-year-old Zhang Huan lost his father and brother overnight, and his home was destroyed. He was forced to flee south with his surviving tribesmen to join Zhang Rou, a distant relative and local powerful man. From an ignorant boy to a soldier who learned riding and shooting in the military camp and experienced his first battle, Zhang Huan's growth was accompanied by blood and death. The novel depicts the living conditions of the northern Han people living in the Yanyun area during that specific historical period in a delicate way.
