Yin Shi Enters the Town

In the twenty-seventh year of the Republic of China, in the middle of a happy event in Longxi Village, Jixi County, southern Anhui Province, the bride and the wedding procession were nailed to the long street. Eighty-seven years later, Yin Shi, a master of folklore, returned to the village for one last field trip. She opened the door of the ancestral hall and saw the sedan chair. The sedan curtain is still open and the bride is still in the sedan. She has been waiting for eighty-seven years for someone who can rescue her from here. Seven soul-killing nails, seven crucifixions, and seven kinds of prices to be paid: joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, evil, and desire. The nail-drawing blood that Yin Shi's grandmother Chen Sui'an planted when she was 9 years old now has to be extracted drop by drop from Yin Shi's wrist. Every time she saves a town citizen, she loses a sentiment. The moment she rescued the bride, she found that she could no longer laugh. The second nail was already hanging on the door lintel.
