The Battle for Consensus

The world operates on "consensus" - not objective truth, but a cognitive contract believed by most intelligent beings. The legitimacy of royal power, the value of currency, and the majesty of the law all originate from this. But consensus can be shaped, tampered with, and subverted. This is the ultimate battlefield in the game of intrigue. The special talent of the protagonist's silence lies in his ability to "hear" the cracks in the consensus - those suppressed doubts and concealed dissent are like the clanging of broken strings in his perception. The nobility of the sky holds the "right of definition" and monopolizes the right to interpret education, the army and the contract temple. The source of wealth is the collection of the "definition tax". They believe that blood carries the density of consensus, but in fact it is based on a closed loop that monopolizes violence.
