Chengdu, My Love

[Firelight Bistro owner × tough criminal investigator × oodles of Chengdu flavor] One rainy night in Chengdu, an unexpected act of rescue brought Han Yi, a detective who often sat alone by the window eating Long Chao Shou, into Lin Xi's world of meals and seasons. Xi's Bistro holds all the flavors of old Chengdu. Red-oil wontons and fragrant Sichuan home cooking fill the air all year round. The curtains are embroidered with hibiscus Shu embroidery, and the restaurant is furnished with Chengdu's intangible cultural heritage crafts. Little acts of mutual care gradually kindle affection. A date is interrupted by an urgent mission, and a hospital-room reunion reveals the deep feelings that had been hidden beneath the relationship between customer and owner. Han Yi is consumed by an old case involving his brother's abduction. The Eagle criminal gang behind it sees Lin Xi as his weakness and targets her again and again, setting fires and spreading rumors to pressure them at every turn. Lin Xi sheds her gentle facade and stands with him against the darkness. In the end, they capture the criminals at the border, and his long-lost brother returns home. Amid the steam rising from a bowl of wontons, Han Yi confesses: “I used to chase the darkness to find my family. From now on, I only want to stay by your side, sharing life's everyday warmth.”
