Rings Through the Empty Mountains: A Spirit Cat Helps Me Break Free from Mortal Tribulations

Su Wan, the sole heir of Empty Mountain, has practiced cultivation since childhood alongside her spirit cat, Mo Ban. The Cloud Bell on her wrist can suppress every evil in the world.

After a century of silence, strange disturbances stir the ancient ruins. The ruins’ master, posing as a good-hearted person, lays an elaborate trap, using strange beasts to slaughter villages and towns and imprisoning her master, all to seize the two treasures she carries: the Cloud Bell that suppresses evil, and the silver lock of a wandering martial clan, which can open an ancient secret vault.

To save her master and protect the common people, she leaves Empty Mountain and enters a treacherous martial world.

At Wangjin Post Station, she rescues an orphaned boy. In Qingshui Town, she unravels a strange beast’s mystery. In Luofeng Town, she exposes a benevolent facade. Deep in the ancient ruins, she confronts the source of a century-old calamity.

Cool and taciturn, she knows little of social conventions, yet her eyes can see through lies, helping her solve one strange case after another.

Xie Yanci, a meticulous and upright constable from Linchuan, joins her in pursuing the surviving members of the secret sect. Amid layer upon layer of danger, they come to wish to stand by each other.

Wen Yan is her fellow disciple and elder brother, whom she protects with pure devotion. Mo Ban is her constant companion and kindred spirit.

No rivalry between women, no melodramatic misunderstandings. With a cat and a confidant by her side, she travels across southern Xinjiang, exposes greed and human folly, uncovers the truth of her family’s massacre eighteen years ago, and uses the bell’s chime to purge the world of evil.
