Late Han: Reforging the Han Dynasty, Starting with Young Liu Hong

Reborn as six-year-old Liu Hong, the future Emperor Ling of Han in the history books. The Yellow Turbans have yet to rise, the Partisan Prohibitions have yet to reach their peak, and he is still merely a young marquis in Hejian, cornered by his own clan in front of the granary. The grain stores have been emptied, refugees are blocking the gates, powerful local families are watching from the shadows, and the county authorities could pin the charge of "illegally gathering refugees" on him at any moment. In this life, he won't become a foolish ruler who brings down the dynasty, but he can't reveal his hand in public, either. And so, a strange thing happens in Hejian. The six-year-old young marquis can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, yet whenever he stands behind Lady Dong, the marquis's estate always "happens" to uncover corrupt accounts, "by chance" manages to stabilize the refugees, and "accidentally" builds canals on barren land, invents a new plow, and sets up workshops. Outsiders merely say Lady Dong is wise and capable. Only Liu Hong knows that the life-saving grain, the canals that bring water, the bundles of straw that can be traded for iron, and the sheds that can support craftsmen are all foundations he has painstakingly carved out of desperation. He doesn't seek fame in the moment. Instead, through his mother's hands, he makes sure Hejian has grain, tools, accounts, and soldiers. Six years later, Luoyang summons him to the capital. The court thinks it has called in a young imperial kinsman who can be easily manipulated. But the world will discover that the northern lands have already nurtured a new Han, with full granaries, fine equipment, and the people's loyalty. In this life, the Han banners will not stop at the Central Plains.
