Calibrated Detective's Notes: Case Files of the Human World

A collection of episodic stories rooted in everyday life and driven by psychological detective work. Made up of several independent yet emotionally resonant tales, it focuses on the hidden pain and tender acts of redemption experienced by people in today’s cities. Deep in the alleys of the old district stands an inconspicuous detective agency called Shijin. Lu Ming, a detective with a gift for psychological profiling, can read the folds of the human heart in the smallest details. His partner, Chen Mo, excels at fieldwork, and neither his camera nor his footsteps ever overlooks a crack through which the truth might slip. They have no powerful connections, only a heartfelt drive to help ordinary people. Most of the cases Shijin Detective Agency takes on are “minor” matters the police have no time for: missing persons, infidelity, fraud, cold cases, neighbor disputes, workplace bullying… These cases may not be “big,” but to the people involved, they are everything. In the gray areas, Lu Ming and Chen Mo use their own methods to seek out truths that have been overlooked. “Some truths are too time-consuming for the police to investigate and impossible for a court to rule on, but someone still needs answers.”
