The Hidden Hand of Daxia

On the first day of his enthronement, Zhu Qizhan gained three things: an empty treasury, a grand secretary waiting for him to make a mistake, and a glowing screen floating in the upper-right corner of his vision.

Someone was watching him from the other side of the screen. They could see every page he turned, but couldn't speak for him or write for him.

He had no time to figure out what was going on. There was something else he cared about more: someone was clearing a path. From Jizhou to the Ministry of War, from the Ministry of War to the Hanlin Academy, they were erasing every trace and removing everyone standing in the way.

Only three traces remained: a signature altered in the account books, a crease in an official document that shouldn't have been there, and a missing junior clerk.

By the time that hand withdrew, it had left a complete trail right in front of him.

He didn't know whose hand it was.

But he knew where it would strike next.
