Unknown Contact: Blue Star, 2200

Blue Star, 2200.

Following a Machine Revolution that completely reshaped production, humanity handed most social production activities over to artificial intelligence and intelligent machines, while the United Government took over administrative functions. Blue Star achieved unity and prosperity.

The abundant goods supplied by tens of billions of intelligent machines rendered national currencies a thing of the past. In their place came a purchasing-power rating system called Credit Points, used to buy additional services beyond the basic services provided by artificial intelligence.

Of course, by the standards of the 21st century, those basic services were already roughly equivalent to what only professors or highly paid experts earning a million a year could enjoy: free food, housing, medical care, education, and more.

In this world, words like war, plague, famine, and death gradually became hollow. High-risk activities pursued for extreme sensory thrills grew more common, the meaning of human existence slowly faded, and morality and ethics sank into a chaotic state where people could no longer tell beauty from ugliness. The citizen suicide rate began to climb year after year...

Nuwa, the United Government's networked core supercomputer, capable of self-evolution, self-adaptation, and self-programming, keenly detected this abnormal trend. After drawing on several classified, cutting-edge studies of psychic energy, it finalized a plan to save humanity's declining spiritual civilization. The United Government ultimately approved the plan.

A virtual game called the Main God Space was launched, bearing the slogan: "Do you want to understand the meaning of life? Do you want to truly... live?"

Backed by the federal government, this virtual game, said to be 100% realistic, took the world by storm as soon as it was released.
