Crime Scene Flashbacks: Solving Every Cold Case in the 1980s

[Period setting + crime-solving golden finger + episodic cases + no romance]

Meng Changli was a graduate student studying criminal psychology in the 21st century.

After dying in a car accident, she was reborn in 1980 in the body of a doctoral graduate who had returned from overseas and shared her name, age, and gender.

The original owner was a gifted expert in criminal psychology. As soon as she returned to China, she was assigned a job and housing.

Meng Changli thought she only had to work hard to maintain her “expert” image, keep the secure job the original owner had left her, and live a peaceful life until retirement.

That was until the police came to her for help solving a serial murder case…

Meng Changli suddenly discovered that whenever she touched a victim’s personal belongings, fragments of scenes from the crime appeared in her mind.

Drawing on the knowledge she had accumulated across two lives, along with her golden finger, Meng Changli solved one strange case after another. She became a treasured asset to police departments everywhere, while moving ever farther from retirement.

A woman with braided pigtails, a couple found dead in their home, a cat abuser who was skinned alive, a wealthy man who showed no reverence for the gods, scum dumped in a marketplace…

Times may change, but the desires and greed lurking deep in human nature do not.

Before long, Meng Changli had become the ultimate nemesis of criminals everywhere.

Criminals even started warning one another:

“Whatever you do, don’t mess with that expert who has low blood sugar! She only needs to touch the evidence to find the culprit!”

Looking at the line of her “accomplishments” sitting in jail, Meng Changli spread her hands helplessly.

“You ruined my expert image and delayed my early retirement, so I guess I’ll just have to take you all in!”
