Gathering Memories of Fragrant Blossoms

In this world, regrets can be seen.

They hide in the grime on old teacups, gather on letters never sent, and sink to the bottom of the deep pool of hopeless unrequited love.

There are people who crouch down and listen to them. They are called Regret Guides.

Su Shiwei has been able to hear the whispers of regret since birth. At sixteen, she was brought to the Garden of Regrets, where she took “laying regrets to rest” as her life's mission.

She helped a mother who had lost her child find a way to carry her longing across; found a response to a love poem left unsent for a century; and found a resting place for an apology that had never been spoken.

But the beauty mark beneath the corner of her left eye conceals her own deepest regret: her mother's final farewell and her father's silence.

Regret Guides can ferry every regret in the world, yet their own are the hardest to ferry.

This is a long story about love and loss, remembrance and moving forward.

“Regret is not the opposite of love, but its deepest form. Once love exists, it never vanishes. It only changes into an invisible cloak, crouches in time, and waits for someone to pass by before softly asking: Would you be willing to hear my story?”
