It tells an absurd and terrifying modern Cthulhu story. The protagonist "I" comes from a stinky tofu family that has been passed down for hundreds of years. The core of the family's survival is a tank of mysterious brine originating from the Northern Song Dynasty. This vat of brine was continuously cultivated and amplified in the "water raising" ceremony passed down by the family and modern industrial production. Eventually, under the influence of a deep-sea ancient virus, hundreds of millions of microorganisms in it aggregated into a super life form with advanced intelligence - "Bacteria Dragon" Zhang Ruoshui. This "ancient god", born in filth and inheritance, regards itself as the evolutionary end point of all life. It breaks free from the constraints, takes control of his father's body, and attempts to decompose and integrate the entire world into one body. As the facilitator of all this, "I" witnessed the horrific vision in the factory. Although I survived by chance, I was regarded as a madman by the world and was imprisoned in a mental hospital. At the end of the story, it heralds that the spores of the "fungus dragon" have spread around the world with snowflakes, and a fusion and destruction that subverts the world has quietly come.
