Disaster Strikes: The Top Beta Tester’s Random System Takes Over the World

No romance + Lone wolf + System + Natural-disaster apocalypse As the saying goes: Dreams fulfill our wishes and give voice to the subconscious. So Huai Xu, who sees zombies every time she closes her eyes, thinks: So I like zombies? So I’m craving the apocalypse? But why does she keep dying over and over? Starving to death, dying of exhaustion, working herself to death, freezing, overheating, running out of oxygen... Welcome to the Global Catastrophe Game! The beta version. The road ahead is long. Kill zombies, find food, build a base, die and start over, kill zombies, find food... The apocalypse seems endless, yet Huai Xu finds herself enjoying the combat and base-building in this single-player game. She thinks that if this were a massive multiplayer online game, she’d be the undisputed top-ranked player! Dying in her dreams takes a severe toll on her mind. Even someone as optimistic and easygoing as Huai Xu nearly gets diagnosed as mentally ill. She falls into a crisis of self-doubt: are her nightly nightmares just her imagination? Is she a masochist? Then one day, the world’s first staggering zombie lunges at her, and a cheerful female voice rings out from every corner of the globe. [Earth Online! Congratulations to player Huai Xu on her first zombie kill. You have obtained an SSS-rank ability!] [In recognition of your outstanding beta performance and your place at the top of the rankings, you have been awarded a System!] An SSS-rank ability from the start, bound to a random System. She’s got this! She lets herself feel smug for half a second. Who could have guessed that the System’s next words would hit like a bolt from the blue? [Kill her to obtain her ability!] Before the game has even been running for ten minutes, a supermarket manager tries to kill her for her ability, her instructor knocks her out with a stick, and the school broadcasts a summons for her. Nothing goes right, and the troubles are endless. Huai Xu: “Whose top-ranked player is a wanted criminal?!”
