From the Lightning Five-Strike Whip to Martial Arts Sage

Lu Xiaobai is so poor he has only three taels of silver to his name. In all of Hongye County, he can afford only the cheapest martial arts school, the Hun Yuan Martial Arts School. Its secret art: the Lightning Five-Whip Combo.

On his very first day as a disciple, Lu Xiaobai slips up and says, “Hello, Master Ma!”

The school’s master, Niu Weijia, flies into a rage on the spot. “My surname is Niu, damn it!”

Everyone laughs at him, convinced he’s an idiot.

His cousin says he’s stupid, the disciples of the Tie Ying Martial Arts School treat him like a joke, and even the street thugs make fun of him.

But no one knows that a voice is ringing inside Lu Xiaobai’s head:

[Ding! The Lightning Five-Whip Combo has been bound as your innate technique and cannot be changed. Start adding points!]

What? He can only bind this lousy technique? And he can’t switch to another one?

Lu Xiaobai wants to cry.

But the next moment, he discovers that as long as he keeps adding points, the Lightning Five-Whip Combo evolves into something entirely new.

Its first evolution turns it into the Hidden Dragon Breathing Method. The second infuses the whip technique with dragon roars. The third makes the sky go dark with a single lash.

Later, countless big shots kneel before him, crying as they ask, “What kind of martial art is this?”

Lu Xiaobai thinks for a moment, then answers earnestly, “The Lightning Five-Whip Combo. Beginner level. Three taels of silver, and I guarantee you’ll learn it. If you can’t, I’ll refund half.”

This is the story of a poor kid who takes a lousy martial art everyone mocks and uses bizarre tactics, flashy footwork, and shameless point allocation to beat the whole world into tears.

(An unconventional comedy about martial arts evolution and rising to power in a chaotic age. You’ve never read a martial arts school story with a vibe like this.)
