The novel uses Lin Wan's tragic life as a carrier to profoundly interpret the ultimate regret of one-way secret love - some kindness is just a fleeting effort for the giver, but may become a lifelong belief for the recipient; and this long-term admiration that spans ten years is ultimately just Lin Wan's war. At the same time, the story also reflects class differences and the uncertainty of fate: the light that Lin Wan tried her best to get closer to is ultimately a world she cannot touch. Her deep love and death are just an unnoticed speck of dust in her dazzling life. The overall tone is depressing and sad, and the sadness of "love but not being able to love, and loving but not knowing" is deeply and deeply moving.
