We Are All People of the Tide

"We Are All People in the Tide" tells the story of two young people, Zhou An and Su Cheng, who make completely different life choices in Shanghai's financial circle. Zhou An, a native of Anhui, graduated from the journalism department and entered Zhongxin Securities with the obsession of "getting ahead". He believed in the philosophy of "getting things done" and worked his way up to the position of head of the fixed income department, but he also paid a career price for taking excessive risks. Su Cheng, a Shanghai girl with a master's degree in financial mathematics from the United States, has been asking "what is the meaning of finance" since she entered the industry. She questioned the misleading sales and challenged the unspoken rules of the industry, and finally chose to leave and founded "Tide Capital", which focuses on investor education. The two met at Zhongxin in 2008 and had their first disagreement over the Yellow River Industrial Project - Su Cheng insisted on "the right thing", while Zhou An chose "what can be done". After more than ten years, they each followed their own paths to different endings: one fell and the other was reborn. After the drastic changes in the industry in 2022, the two met again in Lujiazui, and the past came to mind. At the end, Zhou An switched to industry, and Su Cheng's company was named "Tide" - the financial market and life are like the ebb and flow of tides, with no one standing on the shore forever. The novel spans from 2008 to 2024, and through the differentiation and reunion of the two protagonists, it asks: In the flow of money and people's hearts, what should we pursue, and how should we reconcile with ourselves.
