The Young Second Wife

The original novel behind the short drama Where Spring Finds Rest. The young master injured his leg on the battlefield, and Chunxi was ordered to care for him. Three years later, he had recovered. At the celebratory banquet, someone asked about Chunxi. After a moment’s silence, he said, “She really is good at serving people. If you like her, you can have her.” Later, on the day of the young master’s wedding, Chunxi was sent in an inconspicuous sedan chair to become the second wife of a widower. When they met again, Chunxi wore her hair in a married woman’s style and stood shyly beside her husband. The young master’s eyes turned red with jealousy. “It’s only been a few days, and you’ve already fallen for that old man?” As soon as the words left his mouth, the old man broke one of his arms. “By custom, a nephew-in-law should kneel and kowtow, then call me Uncle.”
