Please, Let Me Be a Corrupt Official!

This was Gu Yuan's sixth time transmigrating to the era he despised most: the third year of Xuanhe in the Northern Song dynasty. Only six years remained before the humiliation of Jingkang. In his first life, he had stepped forward to save the crumbling empire, only to be suspected by the Zhao-Song court and meet his end, body and soul destroyed. In his second life, he raised an army in rebellion, and his entire clan was wiped out. In his third life, he became a great scholar, only to be framed by treacherous ministers on trumped-up charges. He died. His fourth and fifth lives ended in death as well. Having had enough of the torment of reincarnation, he decided to give up completely this time! Just then, he awakened the [Treacherous Minister System]. Gu Yuan was overjoyed. Being a loyal dog to the Zhao-Song dynasty might be hard, and rebellion might be hard too. Staying alive was even harder. But how hard could it be to become a treacherous minister? Yet things gradually started to go wrong. He curries favor with Cai Jing, and everyone thinks he's enduring humiliation for a greater cause. He frames loyal officials, and people interpret it as “protecting his comrades.” He forms cliques and pursues private interests, yet the world regards him as the court's incorruptible backbone... He forces the emperor to abdicate and takes the throne, but the history books say: “He received the abdication from Song, and all under Heaven welcomed him.” At last, Gu Yuan's composure crumbled. “I only want to be a treacherous minister!” Just then, the System issued a notification: [Detected that the Host's actions have seriously deviated from the treacherous minister path.] [Reassessing... Assessment failed... System upgrade imminent...] Upgrade complete: [Congratulations, Host! You have unlocked a new System: the Eternal Emperor Development System.] Gu Yuan: ??? I only wanted to be a treacherous minister. How did I end up becoming emperor?!
