Beneath the Mist!

Every hundred years, a tiny number of people gain the ability to “rewind time” under certain conditions. Rewinding is not simply turning back the clock: the rewinder’s consciousness returns to their past self at a specific point in time, creating a kind of “memory overlay.” But this defies the laws of nature, and rewinders are gradually afflicted by “temporal backlash.” One rainy night, the protagonist Lin Shen wakes up to find that he has lost the past five years of his memories. He retains only two vivid impressions: a woman named Shen Man and a place called the “Ruins of Time.” He then discovers, to his horror, that he has an ability: his consciousness can return to where it was 24 hours earlier. As he repeatedly rewinds time in an effort to recover his memories, he gradually realizes that the five-year gap stems from an ultimate alteration he made to his own life. And a vast conspiracy affecting everyone is closely tied to the past he has forgotten.
