My Father-in-Law, Zhang Juzheng

In the first year of the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty, Zhang Juzheng rightfully took his place as Grand Secretary.

That was when Zhou Zijing transmigrated into the past.

A graduate in Chinese language and literature, he knew neither how to run a large-scale business nor how to invent anything.

So he sharpened his claws and headed to the capital to sit the imperial exams!

Thanks to his exceptional talent, Zhou Zijing caught the eye of a gifted young woman. He soon learned that she was the daughter of Grand Secretary Zhang.

So should he go back to the countryside, marry someone his family chose, and spend his life as an obscure clerk in the local government?

Or should he marry the talented Miss Zhang, rise to prominence, and rely on his father-in-law?

Zhou Zijing: “Is this a fill-in-the-blank question?”

“Are you really determined to marry him?”

“Father, it's not that he's the only one for me. We're fated to be together. I haven't seen him for half a month, and I already feel the agony of lovesickness. I can't help it.”

“...”

“I told you, I have to become Zhang Taiyue's son-in-law! Zhang Taiyue's son-in-law!”

Zhou Zijing was full of ambition. He would inherit his father-in-law's title and could not afford to lose. He would guide the Wanli Emperor, stand against the faction of upright officials, and impeach the conservatives, leading the Ming realm down a bold new path.
