A Little Glutton Arrives at the Duke’s Mansion

The Duke of Shen’s household wields immense power, yet seems cursed with bad luck. The five sons they adopted are all either injured or ill. With Duke Shen at death’s door, the family doesn’t hurry to arrange his funeral. Instead, they hastily lead a group out of the city and bring back an “illegitimate daughter” from some out-of-the-way corner. Just as the capital’s residents wait to see the joke unfold, the Old Madam announces that she is the Duke’s legitimate daughter. From then on, the household’s fortunes soar. The gravely ill Duke Shen suddenly becomes as strong as an ox; the dim-witted third son becomes clever; the second son, long bedridden, is soon running around; and the stammering fifth son starts speaking with eloquence… The capital’s residents are stunned. The Duke’s household had been hiding its true strength all along! Then Changning exposes an imperial examination cheating scandal with a single remark, helping a poor scholar become the top scorer. When the Four Kingdoms come to pay tribute, she does a little tinkering and gets her hands on an enemy kingdom’s city-defense map, winning three cities for her own side. She predicts an earthquake, catches enemy spies… The people of the capital inch closer, while the Duke goes from furious to utterly won over. “Whoever dares steal my daughter from me, I’ll wipe out her entire family!” Later, the people of the whole capital kneel before the Duke’s mansion. “Divine maiden, please bless our kingdom!”
