The Classic of Mountains and Seas in a Box

[Bridging Past and Present + Famine in a Chaotic Era + Classic of Mountains and Seas] On her first day back in her hometown, Qin Ying discovered a miniature ancient kingdom inside a box. It was a land plagued by famine and chaos, cruel tyranny, and ferocious mythical beasts. Billions of people struggled to survive in the cracks of a merciless world. Qin Ying looked down upon the world inside the box, and from then on, that suffering land had a savior god. A casual sprinkle of rice fed an entire city. A little splash of water ended the drought across thirteen provinces. With a wave of her hand, Qin Ying helped a handsome, upright new emperor ascend the throne, wiped out the monsters, and brought peace to the realm. Later, the people of the box kingdom built a nation of the gods, and her divine name was praised throughout the land. But Qin Ying found herself at a loss when she saw the rare beasts offered up by the miniature kingdom. Should she first kiss the tiny panda in her left palm, or soothe the proud little tiger in her right until it cried? The new emperor pressed his face against her knee, rubbing against her to win her favor. “Please look at me.” Qin Ying hooked his chin with her toe. “Have some dignity!” The emperor lowered his eyes and kissed the top of her foot. “Your gaze is where I belong.”
