Forbidden Love in the Spring Courtyard

The moment Ye Zhen was reborn, her half-sister Ye Xue schemed to send her into the room of her uncle, Li Xu'an. Ye Xue had turned down the chance to be the favored second son's principal wife, choosing instead to become the eldest son's second wife. Ye Zhen knew then that Ye Xue had been reborn too. Ye Zhen sneered. Fine, have him.

In her previous life, seven years of marriage had been pure misery. Her husband resented her for taking the place of the woman he loved, and used every means to humiliate her. Not one of those seven years had been happy. At last, just as she thought she had weathered it all, he contracted a venereal disease and was about to die. But even then, he wanted to drag her down with him. He claimed that on his deathbed he had finally realized her true feelings, and was granting her the honor of being buried with him. To hell with his so-called true feelings!

With no other choice, Ye Zhen embraced her uncle, a master of Taoist arts, and let him help her dispel the love poison. What a sin. Given his special status, she was sure he wouldn’t dare say a word. But despite their promise never to meet again, Li Xu'an not only turned her undergarment into a handkerchief he carried everywhere, he also claimed that after their passionate night in the attic, their fates had become intertwined. From then on, if Ye Zhen killed someone, he handed her the knife; if she suffered, he took revenge for her.

Wasn’t he supposed to be a frail Taoist priest? Then who was this stunning husband who clung to her, doted on her, and insisted on taking responsibility for her?

Li Xu'an had a point: “My wife is often overcome with desire. I’ll let you do whatever you want.”
