Lu Ye, the heir apparent of Beijing’s elite, has a fiancée, Gu Yan: dazzling, alluring, and sweet-tempered. Everyone in their circle knows that wherever Lu Ye is, Gu Yan is sure to be there too. Then one day, word gets around that Gu Yan has asked to break up.

Lu Ye remains nonchalant. “I said a couple of harsh things to her. Give it three days, and she’ll come back on her own.”

Three days pass, then three more. Lu Ye gets drunk, and when no one comes to pick him up, he can’t help calling Gu Yan. He finds he’s been blocked. Then gossipers snap a photo of Gu Yan being driven home by a mysterious man, and Lu Ye suddenly feels an emptiness in his heart.

Later, people hear that Lu Ye stood outside his ex-girlfriend’s home all night, stubbornly braving the pouring rain in a pitiful state. The next morning, the door finally opens.

“Yan Yan! I missed you…”

A tall figure approaches, wrapped in a bath towel.

“Uncle? ... Yan Yan?”

The proud, imperious man pulls Gu Yan into his arms and glances at Lu Ye. “You should call me something else now.”

That night, Gu Yan slept with Lu Ye’s uncle. The next day, frightened and full of regret, she ran away. She quit her job and moved. When she ran into him in the elevator, she pretended to wait for the next one. Until she went on a blind date at a bar and was carried off by force.

In a narrow alley, his heavy presence closes in. He kisses her hard. “Run again, and I’ll break your legs.”

He’s been luring her deeper in, step by step. How could he possibly let her escape his grasp?
