With a Little Blessing at Home, Even a Famine Brings a Bountiful Harvest

Before the posthumous child of her fourth son was born, Grandma Xu had a dream. She dreamed that a golden phoenix flew into her daughter-in-law’s belly. The very next day, their family welcomed a little granddaughter.

From then on, one strange thing after another happened. The daughter-in-law had no milk. The little girl called out, and a nanny goat came down the mountain with her kid. The fields yielded no grain during the famine. The little girl called out, and a huge tiger came down from the mountain carrying pork. Too many people died in the war, and plague spread everywhere. The little girl called out, and birds brought herbs that could cure the plague. Enemy cavalry invaded the border. The little girl called out, and every enemy warhorse switched sides.

As the Xu family’s life kept getting better and better, Grandma Xu and her husband grew more and more worried. Could someone tell them what they had to do to get the most precious little golden pig in the whole dynasty to stay farther away from their family’s precious jade cabbage?
