You Were Once an Ant

If transmigrating came in different ranks, Song Guannan could say without hesitation that she drew the lowest one. Other people transmigrate into princesses, princess consorts, or young ladies from wealthy families. At worst, they still enjoy fine clothes and good food. But Song Guannan transmigrated as an orphan taken in by monks during a famine, while the villagers outside the temple eyed them like food. Even her master adopted her because she was the cheapest option. The changing times weigh on ordinary people like a mountain. The court is in chaos, with powerful relatives repeatedly interfering in government; rites and music have fallen apart, and poetry is no longer free; droughts and floods rage, while the warring states constantly make war and alliances. “I don't want to see this chaotic age. I want to change it all.” Song Guannan raised her head and said this to her master. Her kindly master patted her shoulder, shook his head with a sigh, and walked away. “You, an ant trying to shake a tree. How laughable and presumptuous.” Song Guannan clenched her fists. Even with a soul from the future and god-given strength, in this chaotic age she was still nothing but an ant. But even so, she would stand up and fight. Even if there were only the faintest glimmer of hope, she would never back down!
