Farewell to Spring's Palace

[Cool-headed female chancellor × aloof nobleman]

Yan Qingfu was unlike any woman Rong Qi had ever met.

She was selfish, hypocritical, corrupt, and complicit in evil. She was the all-powerful female chancellor of a nation, and the thorn in his side he hated with every fiber of his being.

After years of bitter battles against him at court, she finally died.

But in the third month after her death, Rong Qi saw a woman with exactly the same face as hers on the busiest street in the capital.

The eighth prince, Rong Qi, was as refined as an orchid and graceful beyond compare. He could govern the nation with his pen and defend it with his sword. In the eyes of the world, he was the most revered of men, a lofty flower on a distant peak. He was in heaven, while someone like her, who had struggled through dirt and dust, was on earth. Now that she had been reborn, Yan Qingfu wanted only to stay far away from him and leave the burdens of her past life behind.

She had barely set foot inside her home when an imperial decree came crashing down: she was to become Rong Qi’s future wife.

“The Buddha speaks of eight sufferings. Everyone in the world is consumed by desire. Does someone like you, Uncle, have desires too?”

“I do.”

No matter how much time passed, Rong Qi would never forget that bright spring day. Across two lifetimes and three encounters, the moon who had tried so desperately to avoid him ended up falling into his arms of her own accord.

The Buddha speaks of eight sufferings. The world is consumed by desire. I seek neither power nor fame and fortune. I desire only you, Yan Qingfu.
