The Beloved Little Glutton of the 1980s

“Old An's family in the east of the village has adopted a little girl!” The whole village of An was abuzz with gossip. Everyone knew Old Madam An's family was so poor that even a thief would cry out for help upon entering their home. The eldest son's wife was a doormat for her brother, the second branch had no decent sons, the third branch was born unlucky, and Old Master An was both lame and deaf! And now they'd adopted a little money-loser? They were bound to go hungry!

But who could have guessed that from the moment the little girl stepped into the An household, their fortunes would turn around? Meat became a regular feature at every holiday, and good luck followed them everywhere they went! Everyone clapped their hands and put two and two together. An Tao had to be a little lucky charm. Whoever raised her would be blessed with good fortune! Marry her into your family, and life was sure to improve!

The An family all agreed: “Ever since we adopted our little lucky star, pheasants and ducks have been running all over our yard, and we can eat ganoderma and ginseng whenever we want!”

“Anyone who wants to steal our Taotao will have to get past her father, her mother, her grandma, her brothers... and Gu Xinian!”

Gu Xinian, next door: *furiously digging away at the wall*
