A Golden House to Hide a Beauty

The notorious general secretly kept a mistress hidden from the world. Xia Ning was alluring and breathtakingly beautiful, and she used every seductive trick she had on him. Over the course of three years, she won his heart: from being favored once a month to having Yelü Su linger in her little courtyard every day, and finally to Yelü Su bringing her into the general’s residence despite the whole world’s disapproval. Her almond-shaped eyes brimmed with affection as she confessed from the bottom of her heart, “Growing old together at the general’s side is something I never dared dream of.”

Caught up in the court’s tangled power struggles, she became entangled in schemes and plots. Yelü Su married another woman, all to protect her life. She believed him, thinking she had given her heart to the wrong man, and faked her death to escape. On the wedding night, a fire broke out at the residence, leaving only her charred corpse behind. Yelü Su’s eyes turned bloodshot. “How dare she die without my permission!”

A year later, the Western Frontier invaded and the Southern Border fell. Yelü Su fought his way out of the encirclement alone. Seeing Xia leading an army of women, he rushed forward and pulled her into his arms, his hands trembling. “Xia, didn’t you promise we’d grow old together?”
