Spring in Jade Capital Through Four Dynasties

Cao Xiwan, the finest fighter in the Embroidered Uniform Guard, falls gravely ill and loses her abilities, becoming a cripple. Her superior, the Marquis of Nankang, breaks his promise that they would never marry anyone else and spend their lives together, and takes another woman as his wife. Her parents urge her to become a concubine. Her enemies suspect she has another scheme. And an old lover, who should have died by her sword long ago, returns to seek revenge. As danger closes in from every side, Liu Ruhai, steward of the Prince of Yan’s household, slips into the capital and watches from the sidelines. To seek treatment, Cao Xiwan has no choice but to serve as a senior maid to the marquis’s wife. Yet in the marquis’s residence, she spots the renowned physician Liu Ruhai.

She says, “Don’t think I don’t recognize you. You’re the mastermind behind the rebellion.”

Liu Ruhai: “...I came to see whether the marquis’s wife was mistreating you.”

She smiles. “No, I’m just here to catch you.”
