Hidden in the archives of the Old City Library are secrets deeper than the yellowed pages - Lin Wan, a 22-year-old archivist, can see dust-covered memories when he touches ancient objects with his fingertips, but at the cost of forgetting his own past. Deep underground, a secret organization called the "Inspection Office of the Old Gods" gathers a group of people who have been abandoned by the mainstream world: a former race car driver with mechanical prosthetic legs that can resonate with metal, a cultural relic restorer who can hear the heartbeat of ancient buildings but is diagnosed as mentally abnormal, an abandoned laboratory disciple who manipulates microorganisms but is afraid of the sun, a mortician who talks to the afterimages of the dead and is regarded as a liar... They do not have the power to destroy the world, but only their own "flaws", fighting against the "fragments of the Old Gods" sleeping in the urban fabric. Lin Wan and her friends traveled through strange corners of the city, and while solving strange incidents one after another, they gradually faced their own scars: the faces of relatives lost in the fire, the powers that were denied, and the loneliness that no one understands. They discovered that the fragments of the old gods were neither good nor evil, but a mirror that reflected people's hearts. The real threat was the obsession that humans refused to let go of; and the so-called flaws were the most unique strength.
