[Palace intrigue + Legitimate daughter + Tormented romance] She fears not the deep palace, vast as the sea; she only longs to grow old together with the one she loves. But can a woman in the imperial harem ever hope for that?
She is the legitimate daughter of a powerful family and the younger sister of the emperor's Noble Consort. She had hoped to live freely outside the palace, but an imperial decree summoning women for selection brings her inside. In her darkest moments, she discovers that the emperor is the very man she has loved. She once believed that her family background and the emperor's affection would let her live in wealth and comfort by his side, growing old with him. But the deep palace is far more complicated than she imagined. She treads carefully, plotting every step, yet one baffling event after another drives a wedge between her and the emperor: the young death of the emperor's eighth daughter, Concubine Zhang's grievances, Consort An's schemes, Wu Qi's suspicions, and a secret passage in the Cold Palace... Watch as she uncovers the truth and wins back the heart of her aloof emperor.
