Evolutionary Echoes

The apocalypse did not arrive as a natural disaster. It was a carefully orchestrated “gift.”

Life across the globe began evolving wildly in an instant, and supernatural abilities awakened. Some cheered the dawn of an age of the chosen, while others formed factions to fight for supremacy. Only Lin An, a former emergency physician, sensed the stench of a cosmic-scale disease in the very first mutant.

His awakened ability, [Death Rewind], can reverse time, but at the cost of randomly losing a memory or an emotion. A lone wolf in the apocalypse, he carries a surgical scalpel etched with glowing runes, traveling alone through collapsing ruins and eerie ancient relics.

The military conducts inhuman forced-awakening experiments. Conglomerates monopolize evolutionary resources to create a new class system. Fanatics see mutation as a sacred return. Lin An, meanwhile, follows only his own cold creed of “practicing medicine in the apocalypse,” dissecting the global epidemic through the lens of medicine.

He discovers that supernatural abilities are stolen powers, and every use distorts both reality and the self. Whispers from the relics reveal the truth: evolution is a cage, awakening is parasitism, and the entire Earth is nothing more than a laboratory dish under the observation of a higher civilization.

As every faction tries to recruit or destroy him, this “key,” Lin An has quietly sacrificed his happiness, his memories, and even his awareness of his own existence. He no longer seeks to save anyone. He wants only the ultimate answer, even if the price is becoming something “inhuman” and more terrifying than the apocalypse itself.

This is a lonely pilgrim’s quest, a rational mind’s descent into madness, and a dark epic that trades all of humanity for the ultimate truth.
