A Link to Slash: Kill One Person

[Congratulations on your first kill. Calculating new-player reward... Current total progress: 65%.] [Rule: Reach 100% progress to win. Players who fail will be erased.] [Warning: Other players are using links to “slash” you. Each successful slash by an opponent will reduce your progress by double. If your progress reaches zero, you will be erased.] Su Yunning received a link today asking her to slash someone. After hesitating, she helped out. But as soon as the screen said her help had been successful, she received a video. At the same time, she heard screams outside her window. When she went over to look, she saw the slashing in the phone video playing out in sync with reality outside. A living person was cut down by a blade right before her eyes. [Welcome, Player 129, to the Slash-a-Thon! Here's a free self-slash: 9% will be cut off automatically.] The piercing ring of her phone jolted her awake. She fumbled to answer it, knocking the fruit bowl off the table. A fruit knife inside landed point-first on the top of her foot. Through the sharp pain, she heard a voice on the other end of the phone. “Ms. Su, the ambulance you called has arrived outside. Please open the door.” “I didn't...” Looking at the blood on her hand, she suddenly understood who had called. So a self-slash meant slashing herself. Su Yunning, an independent game developer, was sure this had to be a conspiracy. She decided to track down the other players.
